The range now also supports ARM 9, C166, C166SV2, Cortex A9, Cortex M3, Cortex M4F, Cortex R4F, PPC e200, and PPC e500. In addition to the certificate and certification documentation, the CERT-Kits also include an executable system along with a complete validation software solution.

The system supplied in the Cert-Kits primarily serves to verify whether the pre-certified source code of the real-time kernel has been correctly implemented by the client and whether it has successfully generated the real-time kernel with the correct configuration. To this end, the validation software run on the respective evaluation board generates a report, which serves as documentation of this step. The hardware configuration can then be adapted for the critical security project or optionally used as a complete replacement for the hardware access interface (also known as the Business Process Support Interface). A subsequent run of the validation software generates a report, which serves as proof of the correct operation of the real-time operating system.

The CERT kits comprise all the necessary elements for creating an executable application. These include certified source code, various software manuals such as security, target integration, user, and reference manuals, as well as the system manual. The Cert kit also contains validation software such as a reference BSP (Board Support Package) and the TÜV certificate pertaining to the homologation of the pre-certified software component. Upon request, the test environment can also be made available to the customer. Optionally, or if required for certification, the complete additional certification documentation package is available. If the hardware programming interface of the Cert kits is to be used in a security-critical project, all the necessary elements for certification are also provided.

“We assist our clients in all phases of certification – from planning to certification at TÜV (Certification Assessment Bodies) facilities,” explains Thomas Amann, Managing Director of Embedded Office. “Furthermore, Embedded Office certifies the BSP and develops self-test libraries. These libraries enable security-critical applications to run on the microcontrollers. They contain detailed diagnostic methods that ensure the controller’s proper functioning by performing fundamental security technology tests. Self-tests are used to detect and troubleshoot faults. These tests include CPU instruction and register tests, PLL clock, boot RAM, online RAM, monitoring software, and flash tests.”

Embedded Office has a long track record in the security field. The company, which is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 standards, is already involved in numerous critical security projects with its software components and customized consulting services. A test environment can also be made available to clients upon request.
