Nexperia introduces a new range of AHC (Advanced High Speed CMOS) voltage dividers with space-saving oscillators that increase efficiency and reduce overall system cost. This new 74AHC1G42xx series of voltage dividers also offers, for the first time, surge-tolerant inputs for mixed-voltage operation, enhancing reliability and design flexibility.Standard general-purpose logic dividers/counters (74HC4020, 74HC4040, and 74HC4060) have multiple outputs that are not used in many applications, causing most divider solutions to be oversized. Nexperia's unique 74AHC1G42xx dedicated Mini Logic single-output dividers offer 2xx frequency-specific division (xx = 01 to 16) in a TSSOP5 package measuring only 4.4 mm², substantially smaller than SO16-packaged devices.
Michael Lyons, Nexperia's Senior Product Manager for Logic, comments: "Compared to the 74HC40xx solutions, moving to the smaller package allows designers to save up to 93% of space, which can then be used for additional functionality. In one industrial application, our single-output solution reduced the footprint of a water level sensor module from 10 cm³ to 4 cm³. We have since identified many other applications that also require only one output, including in the automotive sector. If more outputs are needed, several of our new AHC splitters can be used simultaneously, saving even more space.".
The signal integrity performance of Nexperia's 74AHC1G42xx range of single-output splitters in the Mini Logic package is comparable to other solutions. The devices are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive use and operate across a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
