By incorporating a design that effectively suppresses secondary breakdown, it offers approximately 5 times the SOA tolerance of equivalent-sized standard products under VDS=100 V and PW=100 µs conditions. This contributes to greater reliability in automotive applications subjected to high-power momentary loads, including airbag inflator ignition circuits and seat belt pretensioner actuation circuits.

Adopting the standard 5060 package size also simplifies evaluating its replacement in existing designs, helping to reduce the workload and costs associated with design changes.
Recent advancements in vehicle electrification are increasing the demand for automotive systems capable of handling higher voltages and currents. In particular, safety functions and protection circuits can experience high-power momentary loads during abnormal or emergency conditions, requiring the MOSFETs that drive them to provide a high SOA capability.
ROHM has established a strong track record supplying wide SOA products for AI servers and industrial power supplies, including products selected as recommended components by a global cloud platform provider. The RS4P063BPHZG brings these same technologies and expertise to the automotive sector.
Mass production began in June 2026. The product is available through online distributors such as DigiKey and Farnell. Design models and development tools are also available on the ROHM website to facilitate rapid circuit evaluation.
ROHM is also developing wide SOA MOSFETs for automotive applications in HPLF8080 (8.0 × 8.0 mm) and TOLG (TO-Leaded with Gullwing, 9.9 × 11.7 mm) packages. Looking ahead, ROHM will continue to expand its portfolio for automotive safety and protection circuitry.
