Omron's new EE-SX1350 brings its range of surface-mount transmissive photomicrosensors to four devices with slot widths of 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, and now 5mm. The new photomicrosensor boasts high resolution with a 0.5mm detector aperture. All devices are reflow-soldered, enabling one-step board mounting alongside other standard components. This reduces production costs and, consequently, the total cost of ownership. The surface-mount EE-SX1350 is also 65% smaller than the existing terminal-mount version, with overall dimensions of just 8.8mm × 4mm × 9mm.

The EE-SX1350 is supplied with phototransistor outputs. Omron plans to release the EE-SX3350 soon, a 5mm slot photomicrosensor with a photo-IC output. This photo-IC model provides a clearly defined and stable ON/OFF output, as well as excellent accuracy and repeatability. The output is also much less affected by noise, especially on the input channel. It delivers the highest output current, allowing direct connection to relays and PLCs. It also offers fast operation, with switching speeds on the order of microseconds. The phototransistor version is more cost-effective.

Omron now offers a range consisting of 40 transmissive photomicrosensor devices, with connector, PCB terminals and cable, as well as SMD.
