The company, specializing in the manufacture of interconnection solutions capable of meeting the requirements of the most demanding applications, has announced the addition of 20, 26, 34, and 50-pin connectors. These formats are available in all existing connector designs, including vertical for board insertion and SMT in male and female versions, horizontal for board insertion in a male version, cable housings in male and female versions, and with a metallic (aluminum) backing for male and female cable housings.
The total number of new options added to the range is 36. This greatly expands customer choices, allowing them to meet their application requirements without compromise. As with existing Gecko Screw-Lok products, the new models incorporate robust, stainless steel, "connect before lock" screw-in fasteners for enhanced security and corrosion resistance against salt spray and moisture. A key factor in the success of the Gecko product family is the patented, one-piece, 4-point beryllium copper female contacts manufactured by Harwin. These contacts can withstand up to 1,000 repeated connection cycles without performance degradation. The connector design is also optimized to withstand high levels of vibration and shock, as well as extreme temperatures, ensuring optimal electrical performance and durability under the most demanding operating conditions, even in these larger sizes.
The Gecko-SL family continues to provide the market with a package up to 45% smaller than conventional Micro-D connectors and 75% lighter. It offers the combination of robustness, compact size, and increased flexibility that engineers need for modern, space-constrained, and high-reliability designs. Across the range, contacts have a current rating of 2.8A individually and 2.0A for all contacts simultaneously. Gecko-SL can operate at temperatures from -65°C to +150°C and withstands 20g vibrations and 100g and 6m/s shocks on the Z-axis without a discontinuity greater than 1µs. The range is manufactured using environmentally friendly materials, and all products are lead-, phosphate-, and halogen-free.
