With a diameter of just 4 millimeters and high power output, this brushless motor will be very well received in the medical technology sector. The brushless motors are available in M and L lengths and reach speeds of up to 50,000 rpm. The appropriate gearboxes for these brushless motors are the GPX 4 C, available in 2, 3, and 4-stage versions. In the planetary gearboxes, the gear angle has been optimized for longer operating times.
The ENX 4 MAG incremental encoder expands the possibilities of the brushless motor, for example, for use in surgical robots. MAG stands for magnetic. At this size, the ENX 4 MAG encoder is a true novelty on the market. It uses the same magnetic operating principle as the larger ENX 6 MAG and ENX 8 MAG variants.
Another new addition is the EPOS4 Micro 24/5 position controller in its EtherCAT version. In terms of functionality, operation, software, and accessories, this position controller integrates seamlessly into the existing EPOS4 product family. It is suitable for use with both DC and brushless motors with a continuous power rating of up to 120 W. Furthermore, it offers a wide range of feedback options, such as Hall effect sensors, digital incremental encoders, and SSI absolute encoders. With its compact design, the motion controller is the ideal solution for integration into single- or multi-axis systems, such as in small-scale applications and robotic systems. 
Following the new Micro version, the EPOS4 Compact 24/5 EtherCAT 3-axis, a compact and ready-to-install 3-axis positioning system, will be released in the summer of 2020. This 3-axis positioning system is based on the EPOS4 Micro and demonstrates that this type of multi-axis solution can be very small and, at the same time, highly functional.
