The S711 comes with integrated Modbus RTU and Bluetooth LE interfaces, with the option to add Ethernet-based communication modules (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, ModbusTCP) for integration with existing systems. It is also the only device in its class with a Bluetooth LE-based service interface.

In combination with the "S711 Connect" app for iOS or Android, the Bluetooth LE connection can be used to download and upload parameters, forward event logs or status information, and perform firmware updates. Since a USB port is not required for firmware updates, the S711 also eliminates issues related to cable compatibility, varying cable lengths, and dust or water ingress. At the same time, Eaton's robust cybersecurity standards ensure secure and reliable communications while protecting against unauthorized access, tampering, and cyberattacks.

Another advantage of the S711 is its detachable, user-friendly human-machine interface (HMI), which is simple to configure and customize. Equipped with a comprehensive graphic display, it simplifies setup and operation and intuitively indicates device status, parameters, and error codes. The HMI is IP65 rated, yet requires no special tools or mounting frames: it can be mounted directly on the device or remotely in an enclosure for added flexibility and convenience. Because the HMI is equipped with an integrated Bluetooth antenna, it can also communicate wirelessly with the soft starter from outside an enclosure.
