This new shielding is in addition to Pickering's internal mu-metal shielding, which eliminates problems that would otherwise occur due to magnetic interaction when devices are stacked close together.

The 104 Series reed relays are ideal for applications such as mixed-signal semiconductor testers, renewable technologies such as solar or EV battery testing, transformer or cable testing, or any other automated test equipment where high voltages are present. When switching mains voltages, for example, to control and isolate SCR or triac gates, they are the ideal choice.

Four types of dry switches are available, capable of withstanding 1.5, 2, 3, and 4 kV DC – another new addition. The 3 kV and 4 kV versions have a larger gap between the switch pins and the coil to accommodate the higher voltage. Even higher voltages are available upon special request. Mercury-wetted devices are also available for applications requiring bounce-free switching. These latest devices have a minimum voltage rating of 1500V DC, a switching voltage of 500V DC, and a maximum power rating of 50W.

These miniature devices are stacked in a 6.35mm pitch, can feature one or two switches in a single package, and are available in 1-form A, 2-form A, and 1-form B configurations with 5V, 12V, or 24V coils and an optional internal diode.

According to Kevin Mallett, Technical Specialist at Pickering Electronics, "Our miniature high-voltage reed relays remain the perfect solution for existing and new high-voltage applications, and the addition of an electrostatic shielding option to minimize noise between the signal and control circuit provides extra protection where needed."

More components with electrostatic shielding reed relays are planned for release in early 2023.
