These connectors are ideal for applications requiring power between 14.0 A and 23.0 A per terminal in multiple sectors, including consumer equipment, household appliances, networking and telecommunications, as well as industrial and commercial vehicles.
Due to the critical nature and safety requirements of power interconnections, the terminal interface and crimping section of Mega-Fit connectors incorporate advanced technology in this new generation of power connectors. The compartmentalized box terminal design features six contact points, each moving independently on a separate flexible cable, to provide long-term reliability through redundant secondary current paths. Tight-fitting contacts allow the four front protective contacts to shield the two rear contact points during disconnection, enabling hot-swapping at 48 V and 23.0 A and achieving up to 30 cycles. The terminals also feature a cylindrical crimp conductor, which establishes an extremely stable connection between the terminal and the wire, contributing to long-lasting reliability.
The 5.70 mm pitch Mega-Fit connectors include many features typical of Molex's high-quality power products, such as insulated terminals, positive housing locking mechanisms, and polarized housings.
Numerous applications would benefit from the 5.70 mm pitch Mega-Fit connectors. For example:
• Power requirements between 14.0 and 23.0 A: Many mid-range power connectors available on the general market are rated at 14.0 A. The Mega-Fit system not only offers higher power but also comes in a more compact form factor, delivering more power without sacrificing PCB space.
• Low-power applications with large power margins: Mega-Fit power connectors can be used when additional current-carrying capacity is preferred over utilizing the maximum power of a small connector.
• Replacing lower power connectors used for current sharing: In some applications, design engineers may choose to share current, or divide power between contacts with lower power connectors to achieve up to 23.0 A. However, it is safer to use a single current path with the Mega-Fit power connector, in addition to saving space on the integrated circuit board.
