The new 3.5 mm pitch Ultra-Fit™ connectors join the Fit range, alongside the 5.7 mm pitch Mega-Fit™ series (up to 23 A per circuit), the 4.2 mm/13 A Mini-Fit™, and the 3 mm/5 A Micro-Fit. Featuring a split-box terminal design that provides six contact points, Ultra-Fit connectors offer low insertion force, enabling fatigue-free productivity and long-term reliability. With multiple features to ensure correct insertion and Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) to prevent disconnection, they have a 17% smaller footprint than competing connectors with similar features.
Multiple mechanical coding options allow for the use of several connector sets in the same assembly without risk of incorrect insertion. Color-coding options are also available, providing clear guidance for assembly during production or maintenance. The positive-locking housing confirms mating with an audible click and prevents accidental disconnection. Additionally, the anti-tangle design prevents cables from becoming trapped and damaging the connector.
All header terminals and the receptacle are fully insulated. Combined with the positive locking design, this prevents damage during handling and assembly. In addition to preventing disconnection to ensure the terminal is fully seated in the housing, the integrated TPA in the new Ultra-Fit series and other connectors in the Fit family also provides secondary protection against failure of the connector's primary retention mechanism.
