Cypress Pioneer PSoC 6 BLE Kit for IoT Designs
“The PSoC 6 microcontroller is a game-changer for IoT, eliminating the need for designers to choose between high performance and low power consumption when developing their IoT projects,” said Simon Meadmore, Global Head of Semiconductors at Premier Farnell and Farnell element14, adding that “The PSoC 6 delivers both high performance and low power consumption, along with the security required by next-generation IoT devices, all within the renowned PSoC programmable configuration.”.
The PSoC 6 microcontroller addresses the challenge of emerging IoT devices that require uncompromising high-performance, low-power processing. It bridges the gap between power-hungry application processors and low-performance single-core microcontrollers, while also providing the crucial security features required by the IoT.
The PSoC 6 microcontroller architecture includes dual-core Arm® Cortex®-M4 and Cortex®-M0+ processors that can deliver high processing performance and energy efficiency, built on an ultra-low-power 40nm processing technology, with dynamic voltage frequency scale for longer battery life and an industry-leading current consumption of 22µA per megahertz in active power modes.
This system also offers best-in-class flexibility, with software-defined peripherals and multiple connectivity options, plus a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) with secure data storage.
The Pioneer PSoC 6 BLE kit enables engineers to quickly bring their designs to life with the PSoC 6 microcontroller and minimize time to market for IoT devices. It's an easy-to-use development platform, compatible with Arduino and various peripherals, including BLE connectivity and Cypress's CapSense® capacitive sensing technology. The board includes Cypress's EZ-PD™ CCG3 USB-C controller for USB power and an E-ink display add-on board (CY8CKIT-028-EPD) for prototyping a variety of IoT applications.
In addition, the kit includes support for the new PSoC Creator 4.2, an integrated development environment that enables simultaneous editing, compilation, and debugging of hardware and firmware on PSoC systems. Applications are created using schematic capture and over 150 pre-verified, production-ready peripheral components.
