Unveiled last month, Jetson TX1 is the first embedded computer designed to process deep neural networks—software that can learn to recognize objects or interpret information. This new way of programming computers, known as machine learning, can be used to perform complex tasks such as recognizing images, recognizing speech, or analyzing a room full of furniture and finding a way through it without touching it.

With a computing capacity of 1 teraflops (comparable to that of the fastest supercomputer of 15 years ago), Jetson delivers exceptional performance for machine learning operations, GPU computing, and graphics processing, all with very low power consumption.

Serge Palaric, NVIDIA's senior director of embedded products for EMEA, describes the platform as follows: "The enormous processing power of the inference and logic functions used for learning makes Jetson TX1 the most effective and efficient system for introducing new levels of autonomy to devices.".

The development kit allows professionals and hobbyists to develop and test highly advanced standalone devices. Jetson TX1 offers significantly greater efficiency, provides a convenient and user-friendly development environment for prototyping and product development, and eliminates the extra workload typically associated with deploying power-constrained embedded systems. The Jetson TX1 module will be available in early 2016.

Availability
The European version of the NVIDIA Jetson TX1 development kit will begin shipping in January 2016 and orders can now be pre-ordered for €630 in NVIDIA's web stores for France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom, as well as in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.

The Jetson TX1 module will be available for purchase in early 2016 with a recommended retail price of €270 (in quantities of 1000 units or more) through distributors worldwide.
