The DISCON standard specifies the functional and aesthetic requirements that must be met during the development process. This includes the physical layout of the display board, the communication and power pins, the size and shape of the display board, and the silkscreen marking conventions for both add-on boards and sockets. It allows the use of all TFT display sizes and styles: currently, 3.5, 4.3, 5, and 7-inch units are supported, as well as capacitive, bezel-mounted capacitive, frame-mounted capacitive, and resistive styles.
The DISCON display board socket consists of a 2x20-pin connector with a proprietary pin configuration and silkscreen markings. The connector is a 2x20-pin female device with a standard pitch of 2.54 mm. It may also have a polarization post to facilitate display board mounting. The pin layout consists of four different groups of pins - I2C, GPIO, data pins for the parallel data port and optional control pins - along with the power pins.
