Flexible hybrid electronics (FHE) promises to combine the functionality of conventional rigid electronics with the flexibility of printed electronics. A prototype FHE circuit, in which an integrated circuit is combined with multiple other elements, includes (for example) printed sensors, an antenna, a thin-film battery, and even a thin PV film. It is not necessary to include all the components, or even print them, for a circuit to qualify as FHE, but it must include at least both printed and on-board functionality.
