“With IP/Ethernet technology in cars nearing completion, excellent quality and cost-effectiveness of all components are essential,” says Wolfgang Malek, Managing Director and Co-Founder of RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS. “The system specifications for the entire circuit board network involve enormous changes. Therefore, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers must do everything possible to reliably and promptly implement these new requirements.” Through its compliance verification process, RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS presents standardized testing methods to deliver new automotive standards, along with reliable and stable systems. The compliance verification process provides an ecosystem for verifying components and the control unit, thus simplifying the adoption of this technology for new manufacturers (OEMs) and original equipment suppliers.
Compliance Verification for Ethernet PBXs
RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS has completed several milestones in compliance verification. Following the release of the first OPEN ALLIANCE TC8 test specification, the automotive data communication experts have implemented a comprehensive testing process across all OSI/ISO layers. All test configurations are available, and the testing process is underway. The first project successfully integrated the testing process into the development of on-board systems for an OEM: in its compatibility testing laboratory, RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS effectively tested Tier 1 devices (ECUs) and Tier 2 components (FPGAs, ASICs).
Scope of Automotive Ethernet Testing:
RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS provides automotive IP/Ethernet compliance testing, covering all relevant testing areas. Layer 1 (PHY) testing includes interoperability and PMA testing. For Layer 2 (MAC) testing, data communications testing experts offer VLAN testing, Quality of Service (QoS) testing, general switching testing, ingress filtering, and diagnostics. The TCP/IP protocol suite incorporates the following protocols: Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), Internet Control Message Protocol version 4 (ICMPv4), Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4), IPv4 Local Link Address Dynamic Configuration, User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol version 4 (DHCP), and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). For automotive protocols, SOME/IP and SOME/IP SD are part of the test range.
