event-rs-wThis was not the first time RS Components had offered this type of seminar; last year, two other sessions were held in the northern part of Spain, whose success has left its mark on several universities in the area, where they have already adopted DesignSpark PCB 7.0 as one of their daily work tools.

The seminar, led once again by Alejandro Navarro Crespín, Electronic Engineer from the company Soluciones Electrónicas de Cantabria SL (SELCAN), consisted of an introduction to DesignSpark PCB 7.0, supported by real-world examples, which helped users follow the course in a more practical and intuitive way. The seminar demonstrated the great potential of this design tool, its ease of learning, and its strong integration capabilities with the RS component database (ModelSource, an online database with schematic models and footprints), BOM list, etc.

RS Components' goal with these initiatives is to train university professors and lab technicians so they can share their knowledge with young students and future professionals, encouraging the academic community to adopt the design tool and fully utilize its capabilities. DesignSpark PCB 7.0 is a professional software developed by RS Components for creating PCB schematics and designs. This latest version includes a new Enhanced Part Number feature, allowing designers to focus on innovation, research, and development instead of spending time manually compiling purchasing information for their bills of materials. Furthermore, the tool is ideal for students due to its ease of use and simplified project exports to DesignSpark Mechanical for integration into multidisciplinary projects.

The session was attended by 25 participants interested in a current topic, as this type of software is used daily by thousands of engineers for creating and designing prototypes. All of them expressed great satisfaction with the course organization, content, and the instructor's professionalism.

José Luis Masa Campos, Deputy Director of External Relations at the Higher Polytechnic School of the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), explains: “The UAM Higher Polytechnic School (EPS) maintains constant and fluid cooperation with RS in various aspects of our daily activities. We are a school with a strong practical focus, where our students implement and measure hardware systems in the laboratory sessions of several of their courses. A large part of the electronic and radio frequency components used in both our teaching and research laboratories come from RS. Using this tool is essential for anticipating malfunctions in subsequent implementation. Therefore, this seminar will enrich and expand our possibilities for training future engineers.”.

Ana Belda, Country Manager of RS in Iberia, says: “For the second year in a row, we have the opportunity to present the new version of the tool at another Spanish university, this time in Madrid, at none other than the Autonomous University. This allows us to experience the university's reality firsthand and thus improve our collaboration with them. We appreciate the opportunity and hope to return.”.
