As in previous years, SEMICON Europa will be held jointly with productronica at the Messe München exhibition center. The conceptual sponsor of productronica is the VDMA (German Association of Semiconductor) Productronic.
For its 50th anniversary, productronica can expect a full complement of exhibition spaces. More than 1,600 companies from over 50 countries will present solutions and products for the future of electronics manufacturing. Alongside productronica, which will occupy seven halls and a total area of 80,000 m², SEMICON Europa, held concurrently, will focus on innovations and trends in the semiconductor field, spread across 25,000 m² and three halls.
Messe München Managing Director Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer expressed his satisfaction shortly before the start of the trade fair: “We are delighted to see a significant increase in the number of exhibitors. Compared to last year, the number of exhibitors has grown by 16%. productronica and SEMICON Europe once again underscore Munich’s status as one of the leading international centers for electronics manufacturing.”
Special exhibitions focused on key themes of productronica
In addition to the exhibition area with its six themes PCB& EMS, SMT, Cables, Coils and Hybrids, Semiconductors, Production of the Future and General Production Support, the support program of productronica will also focus on the three key themes.
The VDMA Productronics Special Show (Hall B2, Booth 461), featuring eight exhibitors, will present displays and live demonstrations on chip development, advanced packaging, and power electronics for the propulsion concept of electromobility and electric aviation. A highlight of the special zone will be an electrically powered aircraft. In addition, the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences will present the "skills4chips" project and the Microtec Academy, a national training academy established as a result of it. The PhoenixD cluster of excellence for optical technologies will also participate in the special zone. Schweizer Electronic will present the printed circuit board of the future at the special exhibition.
Autonomous driving will also be featured at the VDMA special exhibition. Volkswagen's ID. Buzz test vehicle, part of the Fraunhofer IDMT's "KI4BoardNet" joint project, will provide information on multisensory solutions that enhance the in-vehicle experience and safety. These include voice interactions between the driver and the vehicle, and AI-based processes for acoustic monitoring of the vehicle's status.
At the Fraunhofer IZM Future Packaging live production line (Hall B2, Stand 261), 21 companies will showcase every step involved in PCB manufacturing across 360 m², highlighting the current capabilities of modern technologies and processes in this field. These include aspects such as board labeling and laser separation versus panel milling. The live lab also records actual energy consumption values from the production line, allowing visitors to track the carbon footprint of the assembly process in real time.
Other live demonstrations will be provided by the established elements of the Event Stage Cleanroom and the IPC Hand Soldering Competition. The Cleanroom Event Stage (Hall B2, Stand 358), organized by mycleanroom, will show trade visitors what the cleanroom of tomorrow will look like and how high technology, ergonomics, and flexibility will interact in controlled environments for microelectronics manufacturing in the future.
In collaboration with the Global Electronics Association, productronica will once again crown the world champion of hand soldering. The qualifying rounds will take place during the first two days of the trade fair in Hall A1, Stand 321. The final decision on the World Championship title will be made on Friday, November 21. All participants will have 60 minutes to assemble a complex printed circuit board according to the criteria of Class 3 of the IPC-A-610 standard.
The parallel program of forums on the electronic manufacturing of the future
, productronica, will offer more than 70 presentations, roundtables, and panel discussions on current and future topics in the sector across its three stages: the productronica Forum, the Innovation Forum, and the PCB & EMS Marketplace.sessions stand out among the numerous offerings:
On Wednesday, November 19, at 1:15 p.m., the Innovation Forum roundtable (Hall B2, Stand 441) will focus on the question, "Microelectronics for safety-relevant technologies: What measures are needed to ensure the security of supply chains?" Using concrete examples and experiences, participants will discuss, among other things, what secure electronics essentially means and its importance for mechanical engineering in Europe.
The following day (Thursday, November 20, 10:15 a.m.), a panel of experts will also discuss the topic, "What opportunities does mechanical engineering offer through innovative applications in electromobility?" at the Innovation Forum. The focus will be on different perspectives regarding the potential requirements arising from new power electronics components and the successful transfer of new technologies and research results to industrial practice.
79 Nominations for the 2025 Productronica Innovation Award.
The Productronica Innovation Award will be presented for the sixth time at the world's leading trade fair for the development and production of electronics. The award recognizes innovative new products and manufacturing processes in six categories: PCBs and EMS, SMT, Inspection and Quality, Semiconductors, Cables, Coils and Hybrids, and Future Markets. The winners, selected from a total of 79 nominations, will receive their awards at the Exhibitors' Evening on the first day of the fair.
