The trade fair covered trends such as smart factories and smart maintenance, and also explored how to attract more young professionals and specialists. In addition to "Accelerating Talents," a platform for students and young professionals, visitors to special exhibits like the "3D AOI Arena" and the "Smart Maintenance Pavilion" received information on the automation of electronic production.

As for the overall visitor verdict, productronica fared even better this year. According to a survey conducted by the market research institute Gelszus, 98 percent rated the event as excellent to good. Furthermore, 97 percent of surveyed visitors said that productronica had lived up to their expectations regarding innovations.

In total, 44,000 visitors from 96 countries came to Munich. Besides Germany, the top countries in terms of visitor numbers were (in this order): Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Russia, Great Britain, and the Czech Republic.

New format: Accelerating Talents.
To raise awareness among students and young professionals about the wide range of activities in the field of electronic production, productronica launched the “Accelerating Talents” format! This platform for young professionals included several segments, such as a Career Center, Talent Gateway, Education Path, and Talent Stage.

The highlight was the 48-hour hackathon organized by Messe München in collaboration with the VDMA and the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM). Exhibitors Komax and Schleuniger participated in the first productronica hackathon as sponsors and supervisors. The HR departments of both companies, along with Fuji Europe, took full advantage of the recruitment opportunities during the “Accelerating Talents” event.

Productronica Fast Forward Launch:
Following the success of "electronica Fast Forward" in 2016 and 2018, the platform for electronics startups made its debut at this year's productronica. Innovations ranged from contactless pick-and-place machines to AI-powered gesture control. Around 40 startups participated, and ten were selected to showcase their products at productronica.

Around 80 entries for the productronica Innovation Award.
For the third time, Messe München celebrated this year's productronica Innovation Award.

Of the approximately 80 entries, the following companies won across the six cluster categories:
Limata in the PCB and EMS group with its LUVIR Technology®. Limata has developed a novel approach to solder mask exposure. LUVIR Technology® combines UV and IR laser power, where the IR heats the ink directly before the UV laser initiates polymerization. This heat makes the solder mask ink more reactive to the polymerization process, reducing the UV power required for complete ink polymerization. This results in a faster and more efficient solder mask imaging process at higher capacity levels (prints/hour) without compromising surface quality, resolution, and accuracy.

SEHO Systems, part of the SMT group, presents SelectLine, a selective welding system with a revolutionary design that delivers precision and weld quality, as well as a high degree of flexibility: no changeover is required to dynamically process a variety of assemblies with short cycle times. The SelectLine machine concept is modular. The Fluxer module, various preheating modules, and several welding modules can be individually equipped, and a brushing station and the SEHO PowerVision AOI system can be integrated. Depending on your requirements, the different modules can be configured to form a complete production line.

ASM Amicra, in the semiconductor group, presents its COS-DIE Bonder. The new ASM Amicra CoS-Die Bonder is dedicated to Chip-on-Chip/Carrier/Chip Packaging Solutions/Auto Submount Handling and features placement accuracy up to ±3 μm @ 3 sigma. It is designed for the Silicon Photonics, Optical Device Packaging, WLP, and Direct Bond Interconnect markets. The CoS die bonder ensures placement accuracy by providing a unique dynamic alignment method along with laser-based substrate heating technology. ASM Amicra's die bonding technology was designed to serve the photonic assembly market by providing maximum placement accuracy while supporting a high-speed AuSn eutectic bonding process.

Zoller + Fröhlich in the cable, reel, and hybrid group with the AM 04 Duomatic. The new AM 04 Duomatic bridges the gap between fully automatic and manual cable assembly. Its special feature is that two cross-sections of any length can be processed simultaneously. Operators can switch between preset cross-sections at the touch of a button. A conversion process that used to take around two minutes and required trained personnel
can now be performed by staff in 0.2 seconds with the push of a button.

F&S Bondtec, within the futures markets group, presents BAMFIT (Bond Accelerated Mechanical Fatigue Interconnect Test), an innovative and disruptive method for conducting accelerated and automated reliability and life testing on heavy-duty wire splices in power semiconductors.
The BAMFIT Tester performs a rapid, automated test that takes only a few minutes, whereas power cycle tests used to date can take several months. The
BAMFIT Tester also means that semi-quantitative reliability and life testing can be carried out as part of the development and manufacturing processes, providing quick answers to questions about, for example, the effects of changes in material and process. The BAMFIT Tester was created based on an automated wire bonding system and has a patent pending.

Vision Engineering in the inspection and quality group with the Deep Reality Viewer (DRV). The DRV (Deep Reality Viewer) from Vision Engineering is a revolutionary digital inspection technology tool that generates high-resolution stereo 3D images without the need for a monitor, headphones, or special glasses: the images almost "float" in front of a viewing mirror with an extra-large field of view.

Regarding the presence of national companies at Productronica, the following were present:

6TL Engineering's FastATE technology teams utilize intelligent modules to build test systems. This technology inherently standardizes the test system during the integration process, resulting in a modular, flexible, reusable, and reliable system.

Aismalibar - Benmayor. Aismalibar is a company dedicated to dissipating heat from electronic circuits in order to reduce the operating temperature of electronic components, thus extending their lifespan and optimizing their performance. The use of their materials ensures the quality and reliability of the products in which they are used, and even minimizes the need for additional fans or heat sinks.
