They were all able to discuss and reflect on the main technological, industrial, and regulatory challenges facing an industry destined to play a key role in Europe's competitiveness and energy transition.
The event brought together battery manufacturers, energy companies, technology centers, public administrations, industry associations, and investors from across the continent in an environment focused on knowledge sharing, networking, and generating new business opportunities.
The congress program included dozens of lectures, round tables and specialist presentations focused on areas such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), next-generation technologies, new chemical compositions, battery recycling and second life, project financing and the development of a stronger and more competitive European value chain.
Among the key messages that emerged during the meeting was the need to accelerate the deployment of energy storage to strengthen Europe's strategic energy independence, facilitate the integration of renewable energies, and move towards a more resilient and sustainable energy model. Emerging opportunities related to industrial electrification, data centers, advanced mobility, and the digitalization of the energy sector were also addressed.
Alongside the congress program, the event featured an exhibition area with the participation of some 50 companies and institutions covering the entire value chain of the sector, from manufacturers to system providers, including technology centers and public institutions.
According to Santiago Blanco, Director of Business Development at Fira de Barcelona, "the positive reception this proposal has received demonstrates the strategic importance of this sector." In this regard, Blanco believes that "the event also allows the city and the country to position themselves in an area that will experience enormous growth in the coming years."
The next edition of Battery & ES Tech Europe will also take place in Barcelona on September 28 and 29, 2027.
