netsure 9500 w emersonBased on the same architecture used in the 30 kW NetSure 4015 system, which includes Emerson’s patented 15 kW eSure™ rectifiers, the 120 kW NetSure 9500 is Emerson’s largest 400 V DC offering. The system’s modular design allows for deployment in various configurations and scalable growth to avoid capacity bottlenecks and wasted floor space, while delivering the proven performance and reliability of NetSure.
“Emerson has been a pioneer in the development of 400 V DC power, and expanding our portfolio in this area allows us to better deliver innovative solutions for customers in the telecommunications, data center, and commercial building sectors,” said Thomas Bennett, vice president of product management for Emerson Network Power’s Energy Systems line. “NetSure 9500 provides an alternative to traditional -48V DC power systems in the telecommunications space and AC UPS systems in data centers. It is also a natural fit for commercial buildings, where DC microgrids integrating distributed power sources are becoming increasingly common.”

The NetSure 9500 includes a power module with sections for power conversion, controls, and distribution; a distribution module for expanded load distribution positions; and a battery cabinet containing a string of valve-regulated lead-acid batteries. The fault-tolerant design, featuring hot-swappable controls and rectifiers, minimizes downtime.

For telecommunications providers, the step from -48V DC to 400V DC reduces current and, consequently, the amount of copper required for transmission, thus cutting cabling material and installation costs by up to 80%. The advantage for data centers lies in the simplicity of the power chain, which reduces not only conversions but also potential points of failure, thereby delivering the availability that has been the hallmark of DC-powered telecommunications networks for decades. In fact, the first implementation of the NetSure 9500 is by Steel ORCA, a US-based colocation company that provides AC and DC solutions to its customers.

“We recognize that the industry is looking for ways to maintain or improve reliability while maintaining or reducing costs,” said Dennis Cronin, chief operating officer of Steel ORCA, which worked with Emerson Network Power and StarLine DC Solutions on the turnkey power solution that includes the NetSure 9500. “Our unique hybrid offering delivers on our DC power commitment, guaranteed to our customers who choose the cdCC (data center direct current) area of our facility. To help prospective customers better understand the implications, we are creating a cdCC demonstration room with our industry partners.”
The NetSure 9500 joins Emerson’s 400V DC power portfolio, which now includes the NetSure 4015 and NetSure 701 with 400V DC input, a 400V/-48V DC-DC converter system that allows existing -48V DC-powered equipment to be powered by 400V DC distribution.
