Built on the same principles as the award-winning Smart-UPS family, the new models feature an intuitive and customizable LCD interface for local and remote configuration, accurate distribution status information, diagnostics, and event logs. The information is clear and concise, displaying details ranging from serial numbers to multilingual APC help. APC Smart-UPS is also the only product offering advanced power management, such as recommending a battery replacement date. This advanced notification is based on battery life under varying environmental conditions.
With the new interface, Smart-UPS models offer enhanced monitoring and energy management capabilities. Each model includes a "green" mode that automatically disconnects unused components, reducing energy consumption without compromising system protection or operation. In addition, the units feature integrated energy and efficiency meters to aid in energy usage monitoring. New switched-mode power outlet groups provide added control, allowing for sequencing power-up and power-down, as well as restarting one or more devices independently of the UPS, in the event of a power outage.
Smart-UPS models are available in a standard form and an extended two-tower rack model. This flexibility allows for adaptability to rack-mounted or non-rack-mounted configurations and improves standardization. The extended models also allow users to add external smart battery packs that automatically detect and update runtime, ensuring seamless operation while the system is in use. Up to five external batteries can be added to the 1500VA models and up to ten for equipment of 2000VA or more, maximizing runtime from minutes to hours.
PowerChute management software provides IT administrators with the convenience of remote monitoring, safe system shutdown control, and advanced UPS management. For even more options, the SmartSlot, an internal accessory slot, allows for the installation of optional add-ons to enhance performance. All APC Smart-UPS models are compatible with APC's InfraStruXure® architecture and a wide range of operating systems and network platforms.
