Already available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, this solution supports the continuity of electricity supply to help prevent costly outages.
The Vertiv PowerSwitch 7000 operates downstream of redundant uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems in backup bus and dual-bus architectures for facilities that cannot tolerate power outages, including colocation and enterprise data centers. The system offers seamless, automatic transfers between independent power sources, providing critical redundancy for single-input loads and additional protection for dual-wired equipment. The internal redundant architecture also eliminates potential single points of failure.
"Power protection and reliability are increasingly critical concerns for data center operators, especially when planning for computing growth," said Greg Hoge, global director of product management at Vertiv. "Combining reliable switching, operational flexibility, ease of maintenance, and intelligent diagnostics, the Vertiv PowerSwitch 7000 sets a high standard of operational excellence in power transfer technology for the most demanding data center applications."
The enhanced system offers innovative maintenance features, including a compartmentalized design that separates high-voltage sections from maintenance areas, improving operator safety and overall serviceability. The front-access design allows for maintenance without service interruption, reducing repair time and maintaining continuous power to critical loads. Flexible installation options, with top and bottom cable entry, make it ideal for environments with or without raised floors. Modular SCRs (Silicon Controlled Rectifiers), hot-swappable fan assemblies, and tool-less air filters facilitate quick maintenance and consistent performance.
The unit's integrated 9-inch color touchscreen control panel offers advanced waveform capture capabilities, enabling the platform to function as a diagnostic tool by capturing high-frequency energy measurements during transfer events to support comprehensive root cause analysis. This intelligent monitoring system provides facility managers with easy access to system data, helping them quickly identify and respond to electrical disturbances. Remote monitoring is available via the UL2900-1 certified Vertiv™ Intellislot™ RDU120 communication card, providing secure remote access to system status and diagnostics.
The Vertiv™ PowerSwitch 7000 integrates seamlessly with Vertiv’s complete portfolio of power management systems, including UPSs and power distribution units, creating a comprehensive power protection ecosystem. The solution is backed by Vertiv™ Global Services, a worldwide network of trained experts offering a comprehensive portfolio of project, lifecycle, and digital services to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
