The new version includes features such as collaborative PCB design, support for Atmel® Touch Screen displays, built-in version control, cloud design, connectivity with USB video cameras, and support for WiFi and 2G/3G, to name a few.
The AD10 design process revolves around a central, unified data model, where each tool interacts directly with its data contained within this single dataset
Altium Designer 10 introduces a new way of managing components, including support features such as a new usage reference system, an approval system, lifecycle review, and supply chain management.
It presents a more innovative model in the analysis of components by separating the engineering part from the manufacturing part, thus leaving the user the choice of obtaining the parts or components of their design through one or more suppliers in the market.
The new usage reference system helps track components across any design or release document by linking information about those components with a library of basic information about the designs in which that component should or may be used.
Its lifecycle review and management system allows for a complete review of the lifecycle capabilities of an entire component or individual parts of the model, while the direct supplier system maintains real-time links to its supply chain and provides updates on part pricing and availability information and changes to the aforementioned features.
The AD10 version adds another dimension to PCB design with a 3D design template and real-time editing environment so there is no need to export to a separate application or create a new board in an external 3D application; the editor identifies design boards of any complexity, and allows you to view and edit the board in 3D with a single click.
The editor helps to eliminate errors that could not be identified with other design systems, document and communicate design intent more effectively, and close the ECAD-MCAD design cycle.
Unlike other tools where software development and FPGA design are addressed through separate applications, the AD10 combines embedded hardware and software development within one.
unique design environment.
This tool provides the freedom to write portable application code under the concept of achieving true functionality by analyzing the engineer's design needs, eliminating the feeling of being limited by the design system or the supporting hardware architecture.
Altium Designer 10 includes compilers and debuggers for a wide range of commercial processors including Xilinx MicroBlaze, Altera Nios II, ARM, PowerPC and the Altium TSK3000 32-bit RISC processor.
