The new software saves time and money for electrical design engineers and other electrical professionals.
Backed by Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management and automation, DesignSpark Electrical joins the award-winning DesignSpark suite of engineering resources, which continues its mission to break down barriers to innovation—the core of every engineer's design work.
DesignSpark Electrical is, in short, a complete and specialized CAD package for electrical project development. It boasts all the essential and advanced functionalities of such packages and offers significant advantages, such as time savings and a reduction in errors when designing control panels, machinery, or electrical systems. This new tool gives companies access to CAD functions for electrical projects completely free of charge, in contrast to the high and often unjustified cost of most existing commercial electrical CAD software licenses. DesignSpark Electrical significantly optimizes the current design methodology for electrical and automation systems and helps RS customers improve their design capabilities, enabling them to compete much more effectively in the market.
A key element of DesignSpark Electrical software is its integrated library of over 250,000 components, 80,000 of which are from Schneider Electric and 10,000 from RS. All of these components are readily available for easy integration into existing customer designs. Other key features of this highly intuitive and functional software include intelligent and specialized electrical design tools, as well as real-time reference validation and search capabilities. These features enable the creation of 2D panel configurations, saving time and preventing or reducing errors. The software also includes a Bill of Materials (BOM) request function, allowing customers to automatically generate a component list for their RS designs as they develop their projects. This enables them to check pricing and availability, and place orders quickly and easily.
“For many companies, both the high cost and the learning curve required to properly use CAD tools for electrical systems were two of the main obstacles to their adoption,” explains Glenn Jarrett, Global Head of Product Marketing at RS Components. “Now, the launch of the highly intuitive DesignSpark Electrical software eliminates these economic barriers at a stroke and offers the main advantages of CAD tools for electrical projects to all engineers, enabling them to design faster, more accurately, and more efficiently. Over the past five years, through its online community for engineers, DesignSpark, RS has continuously invested in and worked with leading global partners, such as Schneider Electric, to offer important design tools, component libraries, and a whole host of additional resources for engineers working in electronic, mechanical, and now, electrical design.”.
