RS is the exclusive worldwide distributor of the STG-800 mini-PLC range, which enables microcontroller programming for low-power hardware in a compact form factor. These units are the ideal solution for a wide range of smaller applications that simply don't require overly powerful PLCs. They are suitable for a broad spectrum of applications, including industrial and construction automation, automotive and marine technology, education and technical universities, and household appliances.
Barth now provides a free software patch for the latest Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment) compatible with all models in the STG-800 series. The three STG-800 mini-PLCs are based on a 32-bit ARM® Cortex® processor, representing a significant performance leap. In addition to the Arduino IDE, the PLCs can be programmed using the popular miCon-L software and also support open-source C programming with the KEIL® µVision software package. All PLCs feature 10 I/O pins and a CAN interface for communication with external devices.
The STG-800 offers five digital inputs, three of which are configurable for 0-30 V DC analog inputs with a 12-bit ADC, one as a 25 kHz input event counter, and the last as a 40 µs input pulse and frequency counter; five solid-state power outputs (up to 1.5 A): four high-side and one low-side, which is compatible with a 16-bit, 1-25 kHz PWM power output. The STG-810 model adds an IrDA (infrared) port for communication with the PG-65 parameter programmer. The STG-820 model is the same as the STG-810, but with a 0-5 V analog output instead of PWM.
The three PLCs come with connectors and are complemented by open-source templates, the miCON-L software package, manuals, and downloadable program examples.
