With approximately 28 KB of non-volatile memory, IS2T MicroEJ® is lightweight, low-cost, and uses only 11 percent of the KL46's flash memory, offering a significant advantage that Java can bring to your next project. The software benefits of "JAKARTA" include increased software productivity with a high-level programming language; reduced UI specification cycles with MicroEJ®; a consistent user experience across all devices thanks to MicroEJ®'s hardware abstraction capabilities; a flexible design process with simulation (agile capabilities); and a Java virtualization interface. The "JAKARTA" package includes the Freescale FRDM-KL46 (Cortex™-M0+48 MHz, 256 KB Flash, 32 KB RAM) and a daughter board compatible with the Freescale Freedom KL25 (128 KB Flash) and KL46 (256 KB Flash). The IS2T MicroEJ® evaluation edition for ARM® Cortex™ -M0+ is also supplied.
“This platform will allow engineers to evaluate various HMI-related hardware technologies such as haptic feedback, OLED or TFT displays, various MEMS and optical sensors, non-volatile memories including hardware authentication devices, and capacitive keys. It also includes the exciting IS2T MicroEJ® integrated user interface, the first Java virtual machine for Freescale Kinetis® L (ARM® Cortex™ -M0+). The EBV JAKARTA platform will add significant value to our customers by saving development time and costs, and will also substantially reduce time to market,” commented Etienne LANOY, Regional Applications Manager for VEB France, Belgium, and North Africa, who is in charge of developing the JAKARTA reference design.
