ti-msp43-launchpad-wThe new TI MSP432™ microcontroller family is based on the low-power ARM® Cortex M4F and features a low current draw of 800 nA, with an operating current of 95 μA/MHz. The 32-bit MSP432P401R microcontroller supports clock speeds up to 48 MHz and has integrated communication peripherals, an ADC, timers, and AES encryption.

The microcontroller includes two 16-bit timers, four 32-bit timers, and a 24-channel, 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) capable of 1 MSPS conversion. It also features four high-control I/O pins that can handle up to 20 mA. The microcontroller consumes 90 μA at a clock speed of 128 kHz. It supports touch capability, as well as digital interference filtering on some I/O pins. The integrated DSP instructions and floating-point unit enable a wide variety of low-power, high-performance processing, including signal conditioning and sensor fusion.

The MSP-EXP432P401R LaunchPad Kit has a simple user interface via two integrated buttons and two multi-color LEDs. Additional features include an integrated open-source XDS110 debugger with TI's EnergyTrace+™ technology, which allows developers to analyze power consumption in real time. To enable rapid prototyping, the kit also features a standard 20-pin LaunchPad that leverages the BoosterPack ecosystem. TI's BoosterPacks enable technologies such as wireless connectivity, graphical displays, and environmental sensing.

The MSP432 MCU Platform supports individual program control over each of its eight RAM banks, allowing each bank to be turned on or off. This saves energy by disabling unused memory banks.

The MSP-EXP432P401R LaunchPad Kit, available now from Mouser Electronics, includes the MSP-EXP432P401R evaluation board, a micro USB cable, and a quick start guide. The evaluation kit, along with the MSP432P401R microcontroller, gives designers the freedom to develop a variety of low-power applications, ranging from smart meters and wearable medical devices to the Internet of Things (IoT), industrial and remote sensors, home automation, and energy harvesting.
