One of the new boards supports the ATmega168, an 8-bit AVR microcontroller. The other two are aimed at users of the SAM D21 or SAM R21 families of ARM® Cortex™-M0+ microcontrollers.
The new boards are available to members of the FTM Board Club (my-boardclub.com), a Future Electronics (EMEA) website that provides OEM engineers with access to evaluation, development, and prototyping boards. Any OEM engineer starting development of a new or substantially improved product can request a free development board through the FTM Board Club.
The new boards expand Atmel's board offerings on the website and increase the number of top-tier component manufacturers supplying a comprehensive catalog of development and evaluation boards through it.
The ATMEGA168-XMINI is a flexible and practical board designed for users of the ATmega168 microcontroller. It provides a built-in debugger, a large prototyping surface with connections to all microcontroller pins, and space for an optional Arduino board connector. The Atmel Studio development environment automatically detects the board.
The ATSAMD21-XPRO and ATSAMR21-XPRO boards provide a feature-rich hardware environment for developers working with ARM Cortex-M0+-based microcontrollers. These boards can be easily expanded with Atmel's I/O1 Xplained Pro, OLED1 Xplained Pro, QT1 Xplained Pro, and PROTO1 Xplained Pro expansion boards, allowing designers to quickly create a realistic application environment in which to experiment with the microcontroller's capabilities. Both boards include a debugger and are powered via USB.
The ATMEGA168-XMINI, ATSAMD21-XPRO, and ATSAMR21-XPRO boards are available immediately from the FTM Board Club, free of charge to qualified OEM engineers.
