that offers embedded programmers and advanced DIYers exceptional computing and graphics performance on a single platform for a wide range of Linux and Windows-based development projects.
“The AMD G-Series embedded SoC combines a powerful and efficient CPU and GPU on a single chip, making Gizmo 2 ideal for both DIYers and professionals who want to go beyond the entry-level performance available with most current DIY boards,” said Kamal Khouri, director of Embedded Solutions marketing at AMD. “Gizmo 2 delivers exceptional computing performance and graphics processing, enabling the exploration of new ideas in science and technology while fostering innovation around multi-core heterogeneous computing.”
Based on the AMD GX-210HA dual-core processor, Gizmo 2 is more powerful than its predecessor, combining a 1.0 GHz CPU and a 300 MHz GPU with a TDP of just 9 watts on a compact 4-inch by 4-inch board. Gizmo 2 is one of the highest-performing development boards available, boasting 85 GFLOPS of performance, making it ideal for those looking to supplement or replace entry-level platforms. Built on an open-source, community-driven ecosystem, Gizmo 2 hardware schematics, Gerber files, and the bill of materials (BOM) will be open source for the GizmoSphere and Element14 communities, enabling those who wish to design and build a custom board.
The Gizmo 2 motherboard features include:
• HDMI video/audio output
• 1GB DDR3-1600 memory
• HD audio input and output
• mSATA/mini PCIe connector
• microSD card slot
• Integrated Gigabit Ethernet
• USB 3 (2) and 2 (2) connectors
• Support for DirectX® 11.1, OpenGL 4.2x and OpenCL™ 1.2, enabling parallel processing
