The user-friendly, interactive, web-based tool streamlines the selection, electrical and thermal simulation, and design optimization of over 15 SupIRBuck integrated voltage regulators. The expanded product line includes high-voltage (27 V) devices, currents up to 15 A, and regulators in 5 mm x 6 mm and 4 mm x 5 mm packages. Its simulation capabilities now include the unique ability to compensate COT control devices using aluminum electrolytic capacitors for lower-cost applications, as well as all-ceramic capacitors for higher-frequency applications.
The online tool SupIRBuck, based on the designer's defined input and output parameters, selects the appropriate devices for a specific application. Once the basic requirements are entered, the tool allows the user to capture schematics, create a reference design along with the associated bill of materials, visualize waveforms, and perform complex thermal and application analyses quickly and easily, significantly accelerating development time.
The tool has been designed and developed to assist a wide range of designers, from power experts to digital specialists with limited analog design experience. The accompanying SupIRbuck devices cover load currents up to 15 A, input voltages up to 27 V, and output voltages starting at 0.5 V, and are supported by pre-measured standard demonstration kits, as well as reference designs, datasheets, and application notes available on the International Rectifier website.
IR's SupIRBuck voltage regulators integrate IR's high-performance synchronous buck converter control ICs and their reference HEXFET® trench-based MOSFETs into a compact Power QFN package, thereby reducing the silicon footprint size compared to discrete solutions and delivering 8 to 10 percent higher full-load efficiency than competing monolithic ICs.
