Currently available for Synergy S7G2 Group microcontrollers, the new VSA provides fast plug-and-play access for the growing Synergy Platform customer base to the well-known BACnet stack from CS-Lab GmbH. Renesas and CS-Lab are international BACnet members.

The BACnet communication stack, compliant with ISO 16484-5, is the world's leading building automation protocol, used in countless installations worldwide for HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), lighting, and access control applications. The new BACnet VSA provides easy access to a certified, standards-compliant application via the MS/TP, IP, and Ethernet data layers. The stack's scope is suitable for developing BACnet servers according to the following profiles: B-SS, B-SA, B-ASC, and B-AAC. The CS Lab tool "BACeye" allows easy access to BACnet devices, their objects, and properties during development.

Renesas Synergy is a complete and qualified platform with fully integrated software, a scalable family of microcontrollers (MCUs), and unified development tools to accelerate time to market for embedded system developers in innovating with new products. At the heart of the Synergy Platform is the Synergy Software Package (SSP), which is qualified, supported, justified, and maintained by Renesas. The SSP consists of a real-time operating system (RTOS), stacks for USB and Ethernet, file systems, a graphical user interface (GUI), and more, all accessible through a robust application programming interface (API) to free customers from grappling with low-level details. Developers can confidently add specialized features to their SSP projects using VSA software components, which Renesas continuously verifies for SSP compatibility.

As with all VSAs, the new BACnet VSA can be downloaded as a free evaluation library from Synergy Gallery and then used within the Synergy Platform's cutting-edge toolchain via drag-and-drop functionality with projects that utilize the SSP. The BACnet VSA was designed using e2 studio ISDE v5.0. It utilizes the SSP and has been tested on the Renesas Synergy SK-S7G2 Starter Kit.
