In recent years, as global energy consumption has increased along with the need for more efficient energy use, industrial equipment such as servers, electric vehicle charging stations and base stations, air conditioners, and other appliances have become more energy efficient. This, in turn, demands that power semiconductors further reduce energy loss. In response, ROHM has expanded its existing PrestoMOS™ range with new devices that contribute to even lower energy consumption in applications by offering lower conduction resistance than standard products.
The new R60xxVNx series adopts the latest patented processes to achieve the industry's fastest reverse recovery time, while reducing conduction resistance (which is found in a compensation ratio) by up to 20% compared to equivalent products.
Regarding reverse recovery time, the new Super Junction MOSFETs inherit the revolutionary 105 ns already offered by ROHM's PrestoMOS™ products, allowing for a reduction in switching loss of approximately 17% compared to other solutions. With these two features, the new devices improve efficiency in a variety of applications.
At the same time, two models with even lower on-resistance have been added to the R60xxYNx series of standard 600V low on-resistance Super Junction MOSFETs. This allows users to select the ideal product based on their application requirements.
In the future, ROHM will continue to expand its range to include new Super Junction MOSFETs with even lower noise performance that will help solve societal problems (e.g., preserving the environment) by reducing energy consumption in a wider range of applications.
