The secure connectivity solution is based on the Renesas PROFINET IO TPS-1 chip, which supports PROFINET IRT (isochronous real-time), and the RX630 microcontroller array as the host device. The software framework provided by the RX630 array includes a software library for connecting the PROFINET hardware and an IoT stack for implementing common internet protocols, such as a web server and an AJAX/JSON API for the web application. The web application for the solution is based on the SEVENSTAX WebDesktop framework and can be stored in the MCUs' internal flash memory or in external flash memory. A complete demo firmware is available, demonstrating the interaction between the web application and the Renesas PROFINET IRT - TPS-1 kit, which combines an evaluation board with the software.
The web server is protected with secure user authentication, including extensive user and group management. Additional protocols and services, such as TLS, IPv6, secure firmware updates, and even additional fieldbus protocols, are available as software packages compatible with the RX630 group. The ready-to-run software package, web application framework, and direct developer support can minimize time to market when using the Renesas PROFINET IRT - TPS-1 kit with SEVENSTAX IoT solutions.
The PROFINET IO TPS-1 chip devices are designed for the simplified and cost-effective implementation of PROFINET IRT interfaces for automation devices. It is a highly integrated, single-chip solution that meets all the requirements of the PROFINET IRT protocols. Configurable host interfaces facilitate the flexible implementation of different use cases, such as the direct connection of an external host CPU or digital I/O without additional circuitry.
The RX630 Group offers six flash memory capacities and eight package variations. All RX630 Group devices are equipped with E2 flash data capable of 100,000 rewrites and enhanced peripheral functions with an increased number of channels, including timers, a USB 2.0 function module, a flexible system, a multi-channel serial communication interface, an I2C bus interface, CAN, a 10-bit A/D converter, and a 12-bit A/D converter. In particular, built-in features such as an RTC with date and time, a temperature sensor, an independent watchdog timer, power-on reset, and a low-voltage detection controller allow for a reduction in the number of external components.
