mlx92232webIt can be easily programmed to meet any Hall effect switch or latch specification for direct replacement of previous generation or competitor Hall effect sensors. The MLX92232 can be used to replace many stock part numbers, resulting in leaner manufacturing processes, reduced expenses related to meeting quality levels, and lower inventory management costs. A new, unique 32-bit identification code on each sensor provides traceability throughout its lifespan.
Based on proprietary mixed-signal CMOS process technology, the MLX92232 is the first user-programmable field sensor in this family of high-precision devices. Each IC integrates a Hall sensor element with an advanced offset cancellation mechanism, a voltage regulator, and an open-drain output driver in standard 3-pin SIP and TSOT23 packages. Flexible programming capability utilizes Melexis's well-established PTC (Programming Through the Connector) technology to enable end-of-line calibration of finished sensor modules. This method allows for the compensation of mechanical assembly tolerances, material variations, and variations between magnetic devices. This programmable architecture sets a new industry standard and enables the establishment of high-precision switching threshold levels as well as the integration of a factory-programmed thermal compensation value. These features simplify the manufacturing of thermally stable, precision sensor modules using low-cost magnetic materials and eliminate the need for complex and expensive temperature testing.
This AEC-Q100-compliant device, covering a wide voltage range (2.7V to 24V) and operating temperature range (-40°C to +150°C), is well-suited for demanding automotive and industrial applications. Output current limiting, undervoltage lockout, and thermal shutdown ensure reliability and reduce the total cost of materials. Key applications for the MLX92232 include seat positioning systems, clutch position sensors, and brake light sensors.
The ability of the MLX92232 to operate at low voltage differentiates it from other Hall effect switch solutions on the market when connected to microcontrollers and other digital ICs located on power lines.
