and therefore interacts with other "Gen2" certified devices. The external assessment firm, MET Laboratories, has performed EPCglobal product interoperability testing on the EM4124 as part of a comprehensive hardware certification and standards compliance program for RFID chips, tags, readers, and printers.
EM's new Gen2 RFID device achieves a typical read sensitivity of -19dBm at the chip level, which translates to a typical sensitivity of -21dBm at the tag level for a 2dBi gain dipole antenna. With this unparalleled performance, the EM4124 offers the longest read range currently available in its class.
Each device is delivered with a unique 64-bit identifier (TID/UID) programmed and locked by the manufacturer to ensure complete traceability. In addition, the 256-bit non-volatile memory supports ISO and EPC data structures; the user can program a 112-bit EPC code, a 32-bit kill password, and a 32-bit access password.
By adhering to EM4124 standards, end users are guaranteed that they will be able to use EM4124-based labels seamlessly worldwide. The presence of a factory-programmed TID, in addition to the standard EPC code, also prevents data inconsistencies and label cloning.
Availability:
The EM4124 is available as a gold-lacquered or back-lapped chip, on cut wafers, and is already being delivered in high-volume orders to manufacturers who are taking advantage of its high read sensitivity in high-performance inlays in multiple shapes and configurations. Sample labels are available upon request.
