usb-3-0-wThe FT600Q is supplied in a 56-pin QFN package and features a 16-bit FIFO bus interface, while the FT601Q is supplied in a 76-pin QFN package and features a
32-bit FIFO bus interface. Both chips support up to eight endpoints, excluding management endpoints. The endpoints are connected to configurable 16kByte buffers for input and 16kByte buffers for output.
Both the FT600Q and FT601Q support interface modes: 245 FIFO mode and multi-channel FIFO mode, providing greater flexibility for system designers. 245 FIFO mode has a simpler protocol, but for more sophisticated customers, multi-channel FIFO mode supports up to four logical FIFO channels and optimized data structures for higher throughput. The FIFO mode incorporates a configurable 16kByte buffer.
The remote wake-up function of these chips can be used to quickly wake the USB host controller from sleep mode. The USB battery charger detection function allows USB peripherals to detect the presence of a higher-current power source to increase charging capabilities. This means the FT600 can detect a connection to a USB-compatible dedicated charging port (DCP) and transmit a signal that allows the external logic to enter charging mode. The IC can also take advantage of the increased power delivery capabilities of the USB 3.0 standard along with its data transfer capabilities.
Engineers can enjoy enormous flexibility in configuring the FT600/1Q to suit their specific application. Such applications include multifunction printers, scanners, high-resolution video cameras, still cameras, high-definition displays, data acquisition systems, surveillance equipment, and medical/industrial imaging systems.
The FT600Q and FT601Q ICs have an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. A completely new driver architecture has been developed and optimized in a design that incorporates multiple data endpoints to achieve maximum system performance while maintaining the standard FTDI Chip D2xx API. The device's driver support allows for use with Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems.
