The INAP560T provides transmission speeds of up to 3 Gbps, supporting video resolutions of 720p at 60fps, 1080p at 30fps, with a maximum color depth of 24 bits.

The new device acts as an HDMI to APIX2 bridge, capable of transmitting two video streams through a single HDMI 1.4-compliant video interface, utilizing HDMI 3D functionality. The INAP560T is optimized for use with Inova's INAP375R deserializer and other third-party APIX receiving devices.

A second variant, called INAP590T, includes two HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) encryption engines and embedded HDCP keys. These are necessary for transmitting encoded video and audio over the APIX2 link, for example, when copy-protected movies are played in a car.

Despite being an APIX2 device, the INAP560T is based on APIX3 (Automotive Pixel Link) multi-channel SerDes (serializer/deserializer) technology for high-resolution in-car video applications. It already provides an integrated 12 Gbps test mode and is pin-compatible with upcoming devices in Inova's APIX3 family. This allows customers to create future-proof designs that can be easily migrated to APIX3 when the devices become available.

"With 40 million APIX devices deployed in cars, Inova has set the standard for fast and reliable automotive video streaming," said Thomas Rothhaupt, Director of Sales and Marketing at Inova Semiconductors. "This new device offers a further expansion of our capabilities and provides a simple upgrade path to our next-generation APIX3 technology."

Built with temperature and cable aging compensation schemes, it ensures robust data transmission, and an embedded AShell protocol provides automatic error correction. For reliable operation, the device incorporates diagnostic features including open and short detection schemes, as well as built-in self-test capabilities.

In addition to video, the INAP560T offers independent full-duplex data communication channels. Independent media interfaces (MII/RMII) mean the INAP560T can be directly connected to standard 100 Mbit Ethernet media access controllers. The APIX2 link can also be used for SPI and I²C data communication, GPIOs for reset or synchronization, or up to eight audio channels.

Because the INAP560T is a low-power device that does not require passive cooling, the new device is provided in a small 151-pin aQFN package. It operates over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +105°C and is qualified to the AEC Q100 automotive standard.
