Equipped with the industry's most accurate energy sensors and data analytics, the Emax 3 collects and analyzes real-time electrical system data, including energy consumption, system status, and environmental conditions such as temperature. This information is shared remotely or on the switch's touchscreen, providing users with real-time information, warnings, and recommendations for precise maintenance.
SACE Emax 3 is the world's first circuit breaker with IEC 62443 Security Level 2 cybersecurity certification. It is also the first with an integrated arc flash detection system to improve safety and reliability.
“Critical infrastructure needs resilient electrical systems. As demand for advanced electrification solutions continues to grow, the new SACE Emax 3 will help customers anticipate changes in energy requirements and protect business-critical uptime,” said Massimiliano Cifalitti, President of Smart Power at ABB Electrification. “SACE Emax 3 represents a major advance in energy resilience, helping to address some of the main causes of power outages. Its built-in intelligence helps customers make energy management and maintenance proactive and predictive.”.
ABB's SACE circuit breakers are renowned for their reliability and performance, with millions installed worldwide protecting critical buildings and facilities. Demand for circuit breakers continues to grow, particularly in markets where data centers and smart industries are expanding, and where significant infrastructure investments are being made. Customers in these markets also demand more advanced sensing and integrated digital intelligence.

Lara Cortinovis, Director of Distribution and Energy Management at ABB Electrification, stated: “Power outages can now represent a multi-million dollar problem. Customers express their concerns about grid instability, human error, and cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Solutions to improve on-site resilience are considered crucial. ABB innovations like SACE Emax 3 will be fundamental to solutions that make critical infrastructure safer and more reliable.”
Uptime Intelligence's 2025 Annual Power Outage Analysis, based on a survey, indicates that power outages account for more than half of digital infrastructure outages; that more than half of significant outages cost more than $100,000; and one in five data center operators says their most recent significant outage cost more than $1 million (Source: Uptime Intelligence).
