All models in the 117 series are rated at 100 V and can carry up to 0.5 A of signal current and switch 5 W of signal power. Versions are available that support 3 V coil units for systems operating at low supply voltages. The two-pole version has a footprint of only 10.16 mm x 3.81 mm, while the single-pole device occupies only 6.86 mm x 3.81 mm, just 38% and 26% respectively of the board area required for industry-standard SIL relays.

The 117 Series reed relays are built using Pickering Electronics' SoftCenter® technology with an integral magnetic shield, ensuring excellent reliability and preventing magnetic interaction issues when packaged together. The devices are also very competitively priced, and it is this combination of attributes—size, performance, and price—that makes them ideal for high-volume use in PXI and other switching matrix solutions.

Pickering Interfaces is a provider of such test and measurement solutions and uses 117 Series reed relays in many of its products, including the fully scalable, high-density, integrated, high-performance PXI large-array BRIC™ modules with built-in analog bus. Available in 2, 4, or 8-slot 3U versions, with capacities up to 150V, 1A, and 20W, these units rely on the highly reliable 117 Series reed relays to deliver the performance required by demanding applications in the defense, automotive, and semiconductor manufacturing industries. Pickering Interfaces CEO Keith Moore commented, "We have been able to maximize the switch density of our products without compromising reliability or performance largely due to the benefits offered by the 117 Series relay family.".
