WEG has set new standards in energy efficiency with its new W22 series permanent magnet motor. Having already pioneered this field with the introduction of the W22 Super Premium IE4 three-phase induction motors in late 2012, WEG is now consolidating its leadership by introducing even more efficient permanent magnet synchronous motors.
 
With losses reduced by approximately 20% compared to the Super Premium models, it is among the first UltraPremium motors on the market to meet current criteria for a potential future IE5 energy efficiency class, making the W22 permanent magnet motor one of the most efficient electric motors currently available worldwide.
 
Featuring an innovative design, the W22 permanent magnet motor integrates outstanding efficiency into a compact size. In addition to increased efficiency, WEG has optimized the motor's performance to reduce noise and vibration levels. It also boasts very low maintenance costs.
 
The new W22 series permanent magnet motors are AC synchronous motors managed by CFW11 variable frequency drives. These incorporate dedicated software for open-loop speed control of permanent magnet motors. The software is based on a special drive strategy designed to maximize torque per ampere. Thanks to this strategy, the combination of a W22 permanent magnet motor and a CFW11 variable frequency drive results in a highly efficient drive system capable of delivering constant torque under all operating conditions.
 
With motors in efficiency classes IE2, IE3, IE4, and IE5, soft starters, variable frequency drives, control and drive elements, and gearmotors, WEG currently offers the broadest portfolio of drive solutions to help manufacturers increase the efficiency of their systems, improve processes, and reduce operating costs.
