Thanks to their optimized design, the W60 series motors are not only more compact but also lighter than their predecessors. Their compact dimensions offer a significant advantage: W60 motors require up to 50% less installation space compared to similar motors, making them among the most compact modular motors on the market. The robust design features a high-quality housing and bearing guard, both made of cast iron in accordance with IEC 560. Sizes larger than IEC 560 have a steel housing. A specially designed motor shaft prevents critical bending vibrations at rated speeds, as well as below rated speed in the case of bipolar motors, ensuring exceptionally low vibration levels. Therefore, W60 motors are also suitable for applications with frequency converters and high vibration loads. Thanks to the high-quality lamination of the rotor and stator, low-loss fans, and optimized heat exchangers, the W60 series motors are distinguished by their high efficiency and power density (power output relative to weight). As a result, the W60 series standard industrial motors are among the most efficient of their kind on the market. Furthermore, the W60 motors are designed for continuous operation, with a horizontal mounting configuration, and are easy to install and commission. By default, they are also ideal for use in combination with standard medium-voltage variable speed modules, without speed restrictions due to critical vibration speeds. The three-phase induction motors are designed for protection classes from IP24W to IP55 and are suitable for safe or hazardous areas (Ex-n, Ex-t, Class I Div. 2, Class II Div. 2).
The W60 series benefits users by offering maximum flexibility, as the 2- to 12-pole motors are available in three configurations: open and self-ventilated (IC01, WP-II), enclosed with an air-to-air heat exchanger (IC611, TEAAC), and with an air-to-water heat exchanger (IC81, TEWAC). Two-pole motors up to IEC 560 size are equipped with ball bearings and can be optionally ordered with sleeve bearings, which are standard on larger two- and four-pole motors and available upon request for the entire W60 series. Thanks to the modular design, users can customize the motor to suit their specific application using optional expansion components, such as differential pressure switches (air-cooled), leak detectors (water-cooled), automatic lubrication systems (anti-friction bearings), or rotary encoders.
