The engine features a water-cooling system consisting of longitudinal cooling channels through which water flows in a zigzag pattern around the entire casing. Furthermore, the engine's heat exchange is independent of the environment and allows for various combinations of engine speed and torque.
It is worth noting that the cooling ducts are suitable for service with treated water according to most industry specifications.

WEG's compact WGM20 motors have been developed to emit very low noise levels and feature a robust housing structure to ensure excellent performance across a temperature range of -20°C to 50°C, with minimal heat dissipation to the environment. The motor is supplied as standard, suitable for operation with frequency converters. Typical applications include fans, pumps, compressors, rolling mills, propellers, and hoists.
Thanks to its small size, the housing is ideal for installation in space-constrained environments, such as on ships. In fact, the motor can be supplied with marine certifications, including Lloyds, Bureau Veritas, ABS, and DNV. Beyond the marine sector, other industries that will benefit from the new motor include cement, mining, pulp and paper, petrochemical, water supply and wastewater treatment, metallurgy, sugar, and oil and gas.
Although the accessories are installed inside the motor for added protection, they are easily accessible for maintenance. Other advantages that simplify maintenance include the new bearing lubrication system and the easily rotatable terminal box.
The new WEG WGM20 with water-cooling technology is available with power outputs from 200 kW to 2,800 kW (horizontal motor) or from 200 kW to 2,000 kW (vertical motor) and voltage options from 400 V to 4,160 V, with 4 to 8 poles and frequencies of 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
