With the AEC-Q200 rating, the new Accu-L® Series automotive grade inductors exhibit inductance tolerances from ±0.05 nH, as well as RF power capabilities, high Q, high self-resonant frequency (SRF), low DC resistance (Rdc) and excellent high-frequency performance from 450 to 2400 MHz.
Available in low-profile 0402 and 0805 chip sizes with ruggedized construction, this series also offers high performance in intra-lot and lot-to-lot electrical and physical consistency, making it ideal for automotive signal and power applications that demand the highest accuracy, including shared networks and filters in vehicle-to-vehicle communication systems, infotainment, vehicle location, keyless entry, global positioning, and radar.
“Based on solidly established thin-film technology and materials, and identified by the extreme precision they bring to demanding applications, our AEC-Q200-rated Accu-L Series inductors show excellent performance in high-frequency signal and power applications in the automotive sector and virtually eliminate the variations in dielectric quality, electrode conductivity, and physical size that are inherent in ceramic capacitor technologies,” says Larry Eisenberger, principal technical marketing engineer at AVX.
Designed for use in the -55 to +125°C temperature range, Accu-L automotive inductors are now available in 0402 and 0805 chip sizes with RoHS compliance and lead-free nickel/solder cover terminations. The 0402 models offer inductance values from 0.56 to 6.8 nH, inductance tolerances from ±0.05 to ±0.5 nH, and minimum SRF values from 6,500 to 20,000 MHz, while the 0805 variants feature inductance values from 1.2 to 22 nH, inductance tolerances from ±0.1 nH to ±5 percent, and minimum SRF values from 1,400 to 20,000 MHz.
Compatible with alumina and flexible circuit boards and both automated and manual reflow soldering processes, the Accu-L Series automotive-grade components are supplied in tape and reel form and can be applied using plastic-tipped tweezers, vacuum pick-ups, or other pick-and-place tools. Finished components are tested for visual and mechanical characteristics and other electrical parameters. Each production batch is fully analyzed (DC resistance and inductance at 450 MHz) and evaluated as a sample for: Q at test frequency, static humidity resistance, and resistance.
