They are halogen-free and thus comply with the requirements of the European Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC) as well as the RoHS Directive. They also meet UL-94 V0 flammability class.
The gaskets are available as standard in various profile shapes: square, D, C, P, L, M, and blade. Würth Elektronik also offers custom shapes for individual customers. If two metal parts of an enclosure need to be conductively joined after assembly, the conductive gaskets ensure electrical continuity. In their halogen-free version, the gaskets can also be used in displays, as European Union regulations prohibit the use of halogenated flame retardants in electronic display enclosures and supports.

EMC gaskets consist of three main components: a metallized fabric, an elastic material, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). The metallized fabric is made of polyester woven with nickel-plated copper wires. The nickel plating protects the copper and the EMC gasket from corrosion. It also ensures protection against abrasion to which the EMC gasket may be exposed during its service life. Versions with an aluminum layer are also available. The urethane foam cores are available in various densities, ranging from 45 kg/m³ to 150 kg/m³. A compression level of approximately 30% of the original height of the EMC gasket is recommended.
Wide range of applications
With their dual function of providing mechanical sealing against dust and water splashes and improving electromagnetic performance, gaskets play a crucial role in the final assembly of displays, metal enclosures, control cabinets, input and output connections, and grounding connections. Würth Elektronik also offers custom EMC gasket manufacturing in various shapes and sizes, at no additional tooling cost.
