The new ZS series not only expands the capacitance range and doubles the ripple current capacity, but also boasts a 4,000-hour lifespan at 125°C. The ZS series introduces new enclosure sizes while maintaining the same footprint (ø10mm), and the initial release features 16mm long hybrid capacitors.

Developed with the automotive sector in mind, the ZS series covers the 25V to 63V range, with a capacitance range up to 560µF, an ESR as low as 11mΩ, and a ripple current of 4 Arms. In addition to saving space, the lower ESR and reduced ripple improve filters and DC link circuits in automotive and powertrain control applications. The new series further enhances the potential of hybrid conductive polymer capacitors as effective replacements for the larger, harder-to-find, and soon-to-be-phased MLCCs, offering a reliable and proven alternative to lithium capacitors in tighter spaces or tantalum capacitors in higher-frequency circuits. All ZS series products are fully RoHS and REACH compliant, as well as AECQ-200 compliant.

Shahrokh Kananizadeh, Panasonic's Product Marketing Manager, comments: “The ZS can indeed be considered a higher-performance device that keeps the premium PCB space to a minimum, with only a few millimeters of height margin. At the 63V line levels, 150uF could be the highest capacity in this class at the moment, and there is already significant interest due to the charge-discharge requirements of the 48V battery system.”.
