ROHM's new products form a copper-based resistive element on an aluminum substrate through sintering. By optimizing the heat dissipation structure, they achieve power ratings of 1.0 W and 1.25 W, twice that of equivalent-sized products, including thick-film and metal-plate types. This allows for the replacement of products with wide-terminal types or larger alternatives, facilitating miniaturization and reducing the number of components required.

Furthermore, the use of a metallic resistive element achieves a low TCR (0 to +60 ppm/°C). This minimizes errors due to temperature changes, enabling highly accurate current detection. Moreover, it achieves the same level of durability as metal plate types in temperature cycling tests (-55 °C / +155 °C, 1000 cycles). This ensures high bond reliability even in applications with extreme temperature fluctuations, such as automotive, allowing for stable long-term operation.

This series is lead-free. There are no leaded materials, even in RoHS-exempt areas, thus reducing environmental impact. These products are available for purchase online and can be acquired through online distributors such as DigiKey, Mouser, and Farnell. As part of its future expansion plans, ROHM has also begun development of the 3216 (2W) size sintered metal shunt resistor, the "UCR18C series," further enhancing its product range that combines high power, high accuracy, and high reliability. Application examples include various current sensing applications in automotive, industrial equipment, and consumer electronics. *ROHM study dated January 22, 2026
