Its particularly high operating efficiency allows for a total rated output of 15 W, typically above a 48 VAC input and up to 60 °C ambient temperature, depending on the output voltage variant. Between 18 VAC and 48 VAC, even at elevated ambient temperatures with convection cooling up to 85 °C, usable power levels are still possible.
However, the RAC15-K/WI's ultra-wide input range does not compromise performance. The Class II components meet the reinforced insulation standards of UL/IEC/EN/CAN-CSA 62368-1 for audio/video and IT equipment and IEC/EN 60335-1 for household appliances. Class B electromagnetic compatibility levels and eco-design requirements for standby and no-load losses are met. The outputs are rated as "limited power supply" and fully protected against short circuits and surges. The AC input is rated to withstand Category III surges up to 3000 mA.
"These highly versatile AC/DC converters are well-suited for applications where the input can vary widely or where it is advantageous to mount a single unit to cover multiple nominal inputs," says Michael Schrutka, MSc, AC/DC Product Manager at RECOM. "Together with our mechanically identical RAC15-K/480, just two 15W RECOM parts can now cover nominal inputs between 18 VAC and 480 VAC."
