SMP's new EMC filters, compared to standard technologies using materials such as ferrite, electrical laminations, and nanocrystalline laminations, deliver interference reductions of up to 40 dB[µV] (decibels microvolts). SMP filters are compact, lightweight, and noise-free thanks to their magnetorestriction-free materials. The overall system efficiency is enhanced by the very low material losses. Furthermore, fewer filter components are required. The filters can be implemented with individual inductors or magnetically coupled inductors, thus offering options for reducing common-mode or asymmetric interference.

The component range is designed for applications with currents up to 2000 A, and in special applications up to 3000 A, and for frequencies in the gigahertz range. The materials developed and manufactured by SMP have a high saturation inductance of up to 2 Tesla. Individual components are available in sizes from 19 to 300 mm, with weights from 0.05 to 130 kg. The temperature class H insulation system (up to 180°C) is UL approved. Depending on the application, protection classes up to IP66 are available. HL classes according to EN 45545 can also be specified upon request.
