The new terminal pins have a current rating exceeding 9A, making them suitable for power applications. Thanks to their compatibility with Harwin's catalog of single-contact sockets, they can be installed directly into a connection. For example, they can function as bonding pins for larger SYCAMORE contacts or with the company's dual-support surface-mount PCB socket.
Harwin's terminal pins are designed for soldering through boards up to 1.6mm thick. They are available in versions with a height above the board of 5mm, 8.1mm, 9.5mm, 15.3mm, and 21.65mm. As a result, they accommodate a wide range of board spacing, which is common due to production tolerances. This means that other connections on the board that only accept minimal differences in PCB spacing can be fully maintained without adding pressure. When supplied with a tin or gold finish, these products offer high durability and ensure a long service life.
“We’ve seen increasing demand from users of our larger SYCAMORE and SMT sockets in applications such as electric vehicle charging, but to date, only a very limited number of terminal pins with the appropriate characteristics have been available on the market. That’s why we’ve decided to support our customers with larger diameter terminal pins that complement our existing product line,” emphasizes Neil Moore, Product Manager for EMC and Industrial Connectors at Harwin. “This means that customers who are struggling to find a suitable solution can come directly to us. We see concrete opportunities for these new terminal pins in numerous sectors, including meters, instrumentation, satellites, and robotics.”
