The front-end design utilizes Pulsiv OSMIUM technology to efficiently manage the AC-to-DC conversion process without inrush current or input voltage drop. This patented method allows for the use of smaller system components than conventional designs. The 65W variant's DC-DC converter is based on an industry-standard QR flyback transformer. However, by combining a Pulsiv OSMIUM front-end design with Frenetic's optimized magnetism, it is now possible to use an EQ20 core, which provides a 20% reduction in the flyback transformer size.

Chema Molina, CEO of Frenetic, comments: “By leveraging Pulsiv’s innovative OSMIUM technology, we have been able to optimize magnetization to the fullest extent, reducing size and boosting flyback transformer efficiency to a level we haven’t seen before. This significant advancement will allow customers to achieve new levels of performance, size, and cost, and we are delighted to be part of such an innovative solution.”
The use of Innoscience GaN components has further minimized losses by lowering the RDS(on) and reducing parasitic capacitance, while also optimizing the overall cost of the BoM. Denis Marcon, Managing Director of Innoscience EMEA, adds: “We have successfully demonstrated that GaN technology is perfectly suited to improving the performance of power electronics designs. Pulsiv OSMIUM technology adds further benefits by significantly improving overall average efficiency and reducing energy waste. I am delighted that Pulsiv has selected Innoscience’s GaN e-mode (InnoGaN) devices for their 65W reference design.”

Dr. Tim Moore, Pulsiv's Product Director, who has been managing the USB-C solutions roadmap, comments: "We are very excited to bring this revolutionary technology to market and fulfill our mantra of 'doing more with less.' Achieving an average efficiency of over 95% allows us to offer efficient USB-C wall solutions that safely manage critical thermal requirements. This improves reliability, minimizes overall size, and optimizes cost to set a world-leading precedent in USB-C power supplies."

To accelerate and simplify the design process, three options will be offered:
- Reference Designs.
Completed reference designs will be available on the Pulsiv website, where engineers can download a document package that includes a data sheet, schematic, bill of materials, and EMC test data.
- Finished Modules
. Pulsiv will produce fully assembled, ultra-compact, EMC-compliant finished modules to demonstrate optimized size design and enable rapid prototyping of each reference design. These can also be easily integrated into final products without incurring additional design, development, or manufacturing costs.

- Test boards

Test boards will be developed for customers who wish to test or adapt the design to their own needs, and these will be available through various distributors. A data sheet containing schematics, a bill of materials, EMC test data, Gerber files, and printed circuit board design files will also be available.
